As we enter the holy month of Ramadan, we are faced with the challenge of breaking our fast every day. It’s important that we eat nutritious and tasty meals so that we are able to sustain ourselves throughout the day. Therefore, in this article, I would like to share with you three simple and delicious sahur meals that you can make for your family, without taking too much time or effort.

1. Nasi Goreng

Ingredients:
– 3 cups of cooked rice
– 2 eggs
– 1 tbsp of cooking oil
– 1 onion, chopped
– 2 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 chicken breast, diced
– 1 tbsp of sweet soy sauce
– Salt and pepper to taste

Steps:
1. Heat up the cooking oil in a wok on medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, stir-fry for around 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Add in the diced chicken and stir-fry until it’s cooked through.
4. Push the chicken mixture aside, crack in the eggs and scramble them until cooked.
5. Add in the rice, sweet soy sauce, salt and pepper.
6. Stir-fry until the rice is evenly coated with the sauce and everything is well combined.
7. Your nasi goreng is ready to be served.

2. Roti Canai

Ingredients:
– 200g of all-purpose flour
– 1/2 tsp of salt
– 1/2 cup of water
– 2 tbsp of cooking oil

Steps:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
2. Slowly add in the water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
3. Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.
4. After 15 minutes, heat up a pan with 1 tbsp of cooking oil on medium heat.
5. Divide the dough into small balls.
6. Roll the dough out into thin circles.
7. Place the dough onto the hot pan and brush the top with some cooking oil.
8. Cook for around 3-4 minutes on each side until it’s golden brown.
9. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough.
10. Your roti canai is ready to be served with some curry or dhal.

3. Bubur Ayam

Ingredients:
– 1 cup of rice
– 5 cups of water
– 1 chicken breast, shredded
– 2 garlic cloves, minced
– 1/2 tsp of ginger, minced
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fried shallots
– Green onions, chopped
– Soy sauce or kecap manis

Steps:
1. Rinse the rice and put it in a pot with 5 cups of water.
2. Bring the rice and water to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and let it cook until the rice becomes soft and mushy.
3. In another pot, boil the shredded chicken with the minced garlic, ginger and some salt and pepper until the chicken is cooked through.
4. Once the rice is done, add in the boiled chicken and its broth.
5. Stir it all together, add some salt and pepper to taste.
6. Serve the bubur ayam with some chopped green onions, fried shallots and soy sauce or kecap manis.
